The CAG Foundation
Events With Purpose. Impact With Heart
What The CAG Foundation Is...
The CAG Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to support and uplift young people in communities across Minnesota. It was created by City Auto Glass and, following City Auto Glass’s acquisition by Safelite in 2024, continues its mission with backing from local partners like Safelite and other community sponsors.
What Makes Us Special
🔹 Community-Driven Fundraising Through Fun Events
The foundation’s core activities revolve around organizing large-scale events — particularly fishing and golf tournaments — that bring people together in a positive, outdoors-oriented setting while raising money for youth programs. Its flagship event, the Safelite Walleye Classic on Lake Vermilion, has grown from a small 34-boat tournament in 2006 to one of Minnesota’s largest single-day walleye tournaments with up to 125 teams and significant cash prizes.
🔹Local Impact on Youth Programs
Proceeds from these events are donated to organizations and initiatives that educate, empower, and improve the lives of young people in the region. Supported groups include Kiwanis Club youth initiatives, Boys & Girls Club, youth baseball programs, Camp Voyageur, Make-A-Wish, MN, Flaming Pine Youth Camp, and the Gilbert Brown Foundation. This focus on grassroots impact helps ensure funds go directly toward enriching experiences and opportunities for kids and teens.
🔹 Strong Community Partnerships
The CAG Foundation collaborates with businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and participants — from local banks to marine outfitters and media partners — to make its events happen. These partnerships deepen community ties and strengthen support networks around youth causes.
🔹 Tradition and Growth
Starting as a passion project for local anglers and supporters, the Foundation’s events now attract competitors and families from across the state, combining outdoor recreation with philanthropy in a way that celebrates both sport and service.
